DashCam does not collect or share your information with anyone, nor does it have permission to access the internet.
Below is a list of permissions requested with an explanation for each.
Permission | What it's used for | In-app purchases | A one-off upgrade to ‘premium’ which unlocks some additional features. This must be manually initiated and approved by the user. | Location | DashCam can create a gps log file that corresponds to your video containing location and speed information. | Phone | Some devices don’t allow recording of audio during a phone call, this was causing DashCam to crash when a call was made or answered. DashCam requires these permissions in order to provides the option to continue recording without audio during a phone call on these devices. | Photos/Media/Files | Required to write recorded video to external storage and to link videos to the media scanner so they appear in the gallery. | Storage | Required to write recorded video to external storage and to link videos to the media scanner so they appear in the gallery. | Camera | Required to record video. | Microphone | Required to record video with sound. | Device ID & call information | Required to access phone state information, in call etc, as for ‘Phone’ section above. | Other pair with Bluetooth devices access Bluetooth settings draw over other apps prevent device from sleeping
| The bluetooth permissions are used for triggering auto start and stop recording based on bluetooth connect/disconnect events. Draw over other apps is required to allow DashCam to continue recording in the background. Prevent device from sleeping allows DashCam to keep the screen on when the app is running. (The app should still sleep as usual when DashCam is recording in the background, this only applies when the app is open and visible). |
